Detective Harry Ambrose (Bill Pullman) finds himself obsessed with uncovering the woman’s buried motive. Based on Petra Hammesfahr’s book of the same name, the eight-episode crime thriller’s driving force is not the “who” or the “what” — but the “why.” The series was created by showrunner and executive producer Derek Simonds with Charlie Gogolak also serving as executive producer. For Iron Ocean, Biel and Michelle Purple serve as executive producers. Antonio Campos executive produced and directed the pilot. The series is from Universal Cable Productions.

Suits’ season 7 finale will serve as a backdoor pilot for a new series centered on the formidable Jessica Pearson (Gina Torres), it was officially announced today.

The finale, which will air in the first quarter of 2018, will be executive produced and written by Suits creator Aaron Korsh and executive producer Daniel Arkin, in addition to being directed by Suits alum Anton Cropper (House of Lies, Blackish).

According to USA Network, a pivotal Season 7 finale will reunite Harvey Specter (Gabriel Macht), Mike Ross (Patrick J. Adams), Louis Litt (Rick Hoffman), Donna Paulsen (Sarah Rafferty) and Rachel Zane (Meghan Markle) with their old friend Pearson as she adjusts to her new life in the Windy City. When she is forced to enter the dirty world of Chicago politics, Pearson must rely on her legal wits and valiant relationships from Pearson Specter Litt to navigate this unknown territory.

“The powerhouse character of Jessica Pearson, expertly brought to life by the incomparable Gina Torres, has won the hearts of television fans everywhere,” said Chris McCumber, President, Entertainment Networks, NBCUniversal Cable Entertainment. “USA Network is beyond thrilled to work with Gina, Aaron Korsh, the entire Suits producing team and our partners at UCP to explore the exciting next phase of Jessica’s story.”

“Gina Torres is a terrific actress and a valued member of our family,” said Jeff Wachtel, Chief Content Officer, NBCUniversal Cable Entertainment, and President, Universal Cable Productions. “Gina and Aaron have created a truly memorable character in Jessica Pearson, and we felt we owed it to the audience – and ourselves! – to follow her journey beyond the original show.”

Last season, Pearson left the firm in the hands of her two most trusted lawyers and fellow named partners, Harvey Specter and Louis Litt. She made a triumphant surprise return in the Season 6 finale to help Mike Ross become officially recognized as a lawyer. This season, Pearson returned to help guide Harvey as he navigates his new role as managing partner.

The first half of Suits Season 7 currently airs Wednesdays at 9/8c.

The Season 7 finale will air in the first quarter of 2018.

SUITS: Exclusive Scoop on April 4th’s “Bad Man”

Although, “Bad Man,” the title of the April 4 episode of Suits, is actually a reference to Louis Litt, the title could just as easily apply to either Harvey or Mike, who both find themselves forced to play the bad guy in order to secure the best outcome in their professional and personal lives next week.

An unusual episode — complete with flashbacks, a glimpse of Jessica Pearson (we miss you, Gina Torres!), and some subtle emotional beats — “Bad Man” highlights how the show has evolved over the seasons.

We’ve seen the episode a little early thanks to our friends at USA Network, and have some teasers to share with you below. As always, we make it a point never to reveal major spoilers or other big plot point reveals in our weekly scoop, we would advise the ardent spoilerphobes among you to proceed with caution.

(If you would like to learn more about ScreenSpy’s Spoiler Policy, click through the link provided here.)

Payback

Last week we saw how Harvey and Louis devised a heartbreaking plan to “throw Jessica under the bus,” as Louis aptly put it, by putting out a damning press release claiming Specter Litt knew nothing about Jessica’s previous illegal actions. Of course, the press release was merely a way for the firm to ensure Jessica was able to walk away, if not with her dignity, then at least with a sizable pay out.

But just as Harvey imagines the dust is settling this week, Jessica reappears, demanding a very special favor from Harvey, that might just be illegal.

Tonight’s SUITS Episode is a Big One For Darvey

Suits returns tonight with “Inevitable,” the episode Darvey fans will one day ask of people “Where were you when this aired?” (The A answer is “I was glued to my TV screen, of course. Weren’t you?”)

The episode is quite a dense one to unpack, stuffed as it is with returning characters (Hello Teddy Doyle! Hello Stu!), and themes of strained relationships, moral choices, and life altering decisions.

We’ve seen the episode a little early, thanks to our friends at USA Network, and have a small selection of carefully worded teasers to share with you below. We say carefully, because teasing this particular episode without accidentally spoiling it has been a tough job this week.

We’ve carefully avoided plot-point and character reveals that might ruin your enjoyment of the live episode, but we suggest you proceed with caution anyway. (And If you’d like to learn more about ScreenSpy’s Spoiler Policy, you can do so through the link in this sentence.)

An unnecessary Reminder?

Last week’s “Bad Man” saw Harvey promising never to hide the truth from Paula again.

This week, we kick things off with a scene in which Harvey reiterates those sentiments over morning coffee (the secret is in the vanilla syrup), suggesting to Paula that they each “remind each other why we’re together in the first place.”

However Harvey and Paula’s plans for a romantic dinner together are altered when Harvey’s mom shows up in town.

A great moment for Harvey to introduce his “special someone” to his family? I mean, what could possibly go wrong?

SUITS Post-Mortem: Why No One Feels Particularly Sorry for Paula Agard This Morning

$

Are you all caught up on last night’s episode of Suits?

If not, then beware of spoilers for April 11th’s “Inevitable” below.

In an episode stuffed with moral quandaries — should Donna give Stu stock advice that could land him in trouble with the SEC? Should Louis continue to see Sheila? Should Mike continue to ignore his fears about planning for the future? — the most incendiary dilemma was surely Harvey’s, who found himself in the impossible position of choosing between Donna and Paula, last night.

Initially, things started out well for Harvey and his therapist girlfriend, with the episode picking up on the events of last week. Determined to remind each other of why they were together in the first place, they planned an intimate dinner that soon extended to include Harvey’s mother, who was in town for a couple of days and wanted to meet Harvey’s “special someone.”

But as it turned out, Paula wasn’t Harvey’s special someone. Donna was, and Mom accidentally reminded Paula of the unique bond between this pair.

From there, things took a bleak turn. Following some therapeutic “role play” (just not the sort Louis and Sheila were getting up to), Paula realized that she would forever feel threatened by the presence of Donna in Harvey’s life, even if that presence was purely professional. Although Paula was able to recognize her own insecurity as being just that, she was insistent that Donna, the obstacle to her happiness and security, be removed.

“It feels like there are three people in this relationship,” she told a distraught Harvey.

“Are you asking me to fire Donna?” Harvey asked, knowing already that the answer was a resounding yes.

And in case we were in any doubt as to Paula’s intent, we later saw a scene in which, Donna, cap uncharacteristically in hand, begged Paula not to force Harvey’s hand on the matter. Asking Paula “as a woman, and as a professional” Donna implored Paula to allow her to keep the job she loved, and fought so hard to get over the last 12 years.

Whatever your feelings on “Darvey” the scene was deeply uncomfortable to watch, and its conclusion — a refusal on Paula’s part to consider Donna’s appeal — was even worse.

Not only was Paula, a professional and committed psychotherapist, unable to commit to the work of examining herself and working on her issues — issues she was fully able to recognize, and we assume, help patients overcome on a daily basis — but she was willing to throw another woman’s reputation, career and standing under the bus in order to continue avoiding her painful past.

Paula’s decision seemed particularly mean given her knowledge of Harvey’s heartfelt belief in absolute loyalty in relationships. After all, Paula was the person responsible for helping Harvey forgive his mother for being unfaithful to his father.

Harvey was not blameless in the matter either. He initially asked Stu for a favor — namely hire Donna and take her off his hands. However, the quick-witted COO was able to spot the setup for what it was, and she chose to walk away from Specter-Litt with her dignity intact.

It was only then, seeing that he had ultimately lost the most important female figure in his life, that Harvey had cause to repent. Taking a cab to Paula’s place of work, he told her that Donna had resigned. Here was surely a moment in which Paula could have redeemed herself? Could have asked Harvey to reconsider? Could have vowed to work on her own issues? Could have at least left Donna with her career? But no, the moment passed with a simple “I’m sorry,” which translated not as “I apologize for the unnecessary shitstorm I have caused,” but rather “I apologize, but this is the way it has to be.”

Perhaps Harvey read the same sentiments in Paula’s words, because his next action was to tell her he had made a mistake, and was re-hiring Donna. (I’m not sure why he imagined Donna would be so willing to return following his betrayal, but that’s another story.) And just like that, Paula and Harvey’s relationship was over.

And although the last we may ever see of Paula Agard is the image of her tear-stained face crumpling in despair, it’s hard to summon up much sympathy for someone who had the love of a fiercely loyal man, and all the tools at her disposal to handle the situation with more dignity, class and compassion.

I guess we’d have to look elsewhere for those particular qualities.

Physician, heal thyself.

SUITS Scoop: The Team Pulls Together in “Pulling the Goalie”

With just three episodes remaining, there’s still a lot left to unpack on this season of USA Network’s Suits.

With a major cast reshuffle and a spin-off series on the cards, many fans are wondering just how Meghan Markle and Patrick J. Adams’ Mike and Rachel will choose to bow out of the series.

Too boot, in the wake of Harvey’s recent personal emotional rollercoaster ride, some are questioning if it is series creator Aaron Korsh’s intention that Donna and Harvey should get together, or if it is their lot to forever remain slightly-too-close work associates.

For others the season’s end raises questions as to what manner of threat will take fans into next week’s finale, and also into what will surely be a very new look eighth season.

The show begins to lay the groundwork for April 25th’s two hour finale with tonight’s “Pulling the Goalie,” [mild teasers ahead: Read more about our Spoiler Policy here] an episode that sees Mike and Harvey teaming up “for fun” on a case that initially pulls at Mike’s heart strings, and prompts him to reach out to a rather glum Harvey in an effort to cheer him up by doing some good.

However as hidden case details emerge, it’s not long before Mike and Harvey find themselves at odds over their differing perspectives on the case. And as words are traded, Harvey is hurt by Mike’s assertion that he has never had to make a sacrifice in his long career.

Ouch! Didn’t Mike watch last week’s episode?

Meanwhile, Donna faces a new and particularly nasty challenge when she is forced to privately tackle a problem (that she accidentally created) which could see Specter-Litt lose its tenancy.

Unwilling to go to Harvey following his recent break-up with Paula, Donna sets out to handle the situation alone, but soon finds herself swimming with sharks.

It’s going to take every shred of Donna Paulsen’s business acumen to see this one through.

Meanwhile, Louis gets to know Sheila’s fiance Xander better — and not in a good way. Following his humiliation last week in Sheila’s place of work, Louis is further offended when Xander comes to his office with a threat.

What exactly does Xander know about Louis and Sheila that he’s not saying?

What follows is an escalating power-trip between two very similar men that ends in an explosive conclusion for Louis that fans will not want to miss.

And last, but by no means least, as confessions and straight talk take center stage, we’ll see that #Darvey’s greatest fans may just be Mike … and Donna herself.

All this and Katrina too?

The “Pulling the Goalie” episode of Suits airs Wednesday, April 18 (9-10 p.m. ET), on USA Network.

SUITS Season 7 Finale: Will They or Won’t They?

$

Note: This article does not contain spoilers beyond those found in the official loglines for the episodes under discussion, and the official photos released by the Network. It does however, contain strong opinions on #Darvey, and on the expectations fans of TV shows often have, and on comments made by series creator Aaron Korsh, which are entirely subjective, and not indicative as to where the show might take any character in the finale, or beyond. In short: Opinions are our own. Feel free to draw yours.

With a backdoor pilot in the offing, in addition to two major cast departures, it’s perhaps unsurprising to learn there’s a lot going on in Suits’ season 7 finale on April 25, as the show scrambles to strategically align its remaining key pieces on the board before a Chicago based, Gina Torres-led, spin-off hits the air.

Two back to back episodes that could have played out as a series finale, if the show had not managed to secure an 8th season renewal, will see a host of familiar faces returning to help and hinder our favorite characters at Specter Litt. Fans can expect to see Scottie, Jack Soloff, Jeff Malone, Robert Zane, and even Stanley Gordon dropping by for a cameo or two.

The first hour picks up the pieces of last night’s “Pulling the Goalie,” and will find the team finally referring to each other as family. However, they will come to realize that even a family pulling together may not be enough to stave off the interests of the firm’s previous senior partners.

Meanwhile Mike will come to realize that one day he will be asked to defend the indefensible, prompting him to carefully consider his future at the firm.

A second, rather rushed hour will attempt to bid adieu to Mike and Rachel via a touching, classy, and romantic wedding ceremony (catch the just-released photos below if you missed any), while also doing justice to Mike’s class action case. However, this hour also spends a chunk of change on Jessica and Harvey’s trip to Chicago, and while some fans will love the change of pace, style and edgier tone, others may not. (For the record, Jessica Pearson takes on corrupt Chicago is a show I am 100% there for.)

Among that latter group will no doubt be ‘Darvey’ fans, who have held onto an expectation that there will be some romantic payoff for Harvey and Donna by the season’s end.

An unrealistic expectation? While we are not allowed to divulge spoilers on the finale itself, our opinion is that these fans have had those expectations set by events in episodes such as September’s mid-season finale “Donna,” and April 11th’s “Inevitable” among others.

Donna and Harvey as will-they-won’t-they? romantic partners is a storyline that has received a lot of attention this season. In fact, series creator Aaron Korsh addressed the ongoing hype, teasing that the finale will see “slow dances and more” and that “Darvey fans should be satisfied.”

Will they? While that’s not for us to say here, our opinion on fan expectations, which is not based on any events in the finale of this particular show, is that there is often a disconnect between what show creators think fans will like, and what fans actually want. Occasionally, fans hoping to see actual romantic development between two characters are disappointed by the tossed breadcrumbs their story receives, despite how the show creator may have inaccurately set the tone — and those pesky expectations — beforehand.

We’re looking at you, Scully and Mulder.

As for Suits? No doubt fans will be happy and unhappy in equal measure depending on how they feel their expectations have been met next Wednesday. With the aforementioned pieces aligned ahead of season 8 (and with the show’s only long-term romantic couple now departed) Korsh and the Suits team may be planning a long game for some of its characters going forward. But who can say? Opinions are just that for now.

Suits bids adieu to our TV schedule with a double episode finale on Wednesday, April 25 on USA Network.

SUITS Post-Mortem: Why ‘Darvey’ Will Always Under-Deliver

SUITS — “Donna” Episode 710 — Pictured: (l-r) Sarah Rafferty as Donna Paulsen, Gabriel Macht as Harvey Specter — (Photo by: Shane Mahood/USA Network)

Suits went out on a high note (for most fans) last night with a double episode finale featuring Mike and Rachel’s wedding, a thankfully happy resolution to the conflict caused by Louis and Sheila’s illicit affair, and the setting in place of all the pieces for Gina Torres’ gritty Chicago-based spin-off series.

But the sweetness of that high note wasn’t heard by every fan of ‘Darvey,’ aka the power couple that is Donna Paulsen and Harvey Specter, long time friends and one time lovers. For those expecting romance to finally blossom between this could-be-again pair, the closing moments of the finale were nebulous, to say the least.

Last week we previewed that fans would ultimately be happy and unhappy in equal measure depending on how they felt their expectations had been met on Wednesday.

What we couldn’t reveal then was that Donna and Harvey would not fall into each other’s arms by the end of the season 7 finale, despite the slow dances “and more,” previewed in an interview from TV Insider with series creator Aaron Korsh. (Admittedly, the two did share a moment by the bar, and later some dancing, which was only ‘slow’ by means of a slow-mo shot in the final moments.)

Did Korsh grossly exaggerate, or did he fulfil his promise that Darvey fans would be satisfied? Ultimately the answer lies wherever you decide it lies. For some fans, Darvey represents the special bond on display throughout the finale. For others Darvey is in the candid glances and wordless exchanges traded over the course of not just this season, but every season. For some, it’s the knowledge that each has the other’s back, no matter what. For some fans though, Darvey represents a romantic aspiration that could track a course similar to Mike and Rachel’s, if it were given the opportunity to fly.

Before the finale, we speculated that Season 8 Darvey might be even more likely, given that the show’s resident sweethearts, Mike and Rachel, have left behind a love vacuum of sorts. However, what season 8 brings in terms of this particular couple’s relationship may not be the ‘Darvey’ you might expect. In fact, following a rewatch of the season this week, we’re forced to concede it’s likely Korsh may choose not to fill that vacuum at all.

To answer the question why, it becomes necessary to focus on one half of this couple. Unsurprisingly, we don’t need to look too deeply at Harvey, a stubborn man with many skeletons in his closet, slow to trust, and demanding of complete loyalty, but instead at dependable Donna Paulsen, COO of Specter Litt.

Despite her recent job title bump, Donna has since season one, embodied the ultimate ‘sexy secretary’ trope, a Girl Friday, a Miss Moneypenny, always there when needed, only to disappear demurely when not. Cool under fire, and oozing sex appeal, when Donna enters a room the camera lingers behind and below her waistline, tracking her in a way it doesn’t with other characters. Donna — a name and title all in one — is the epitome of poise and charm, and the show takes every opportunity to remind us of that fact. Quick witted, but never intimidatingly so, Donna wants whatever Harvey wants, especially when it comes to a relationship.

“So things between us are –?” prompted Harvey in last night’s “Tiny Violin”

“Back to normal? If they are for you, then they are for me,” Donna reassures him.

If Donna is to be taken at face value here, then she’s saying she doesn’t mind whether Harvey wants to pursue a relationship with her, or remain just friends. The main thing that matters is that he is happy pursuing whatever course of action he’s decided to pursue. She is there to fully support his choice. Which is a thing no woman has ever thought outside of the imaginary realm of TV land. Where are Donna’s own personal desires? What is she feeling? What does she really want? Why is it not important for us to know?

Although she may, on the surface, seem to represent the things that the show’s female audience might want to aspire to, her talents are only ever viewed through a very male gaze. What we see through that lens is cool, dependable Donna, always ready with just the right advice, or a tumbler of scotch. Sexy, but approachable. Smart but willing to take orders. Spirited, but loyal. Always wanting whatever Harvey wants, and never forgetting her place.

Well, she knows what I’m about
She can take what I dish out, and that’s not easy
But she knows me through and through
And she knows just what to do and how to please me

The words to Tom Jones’ ancient and highly misogynistic 1971 hit “She’s a Lady” have sadly never seemed more appropriate.

Clearly, Donna is a woman who embodies one version of the female ideal to such a degree that to give her the opportunity to become a fully realized human being would be to break the essence of what her character represents to Korsh.

In order for Darvey to happen, a la Mike and Rachel, Donna would have to be given the opportunity to become a vulnerable human being, sporting all the baggage, doubts and insecurities, as well as the hopes and dreams that come with that notion. Think Mike and Rachel, and all the hurdles they overcame together over the course of their long relationship. Think Harvey and the demons he overcame through therapy. Think Louis and Sheila. Even steely Jessica had inner conflict. Yet Donna remains “Just Donna,” her name and title thrown together and worn like some dubious badge of honor.

Is Suits willing to rewrite Donna Paulsen in Season 8? The show may surprise us by doing just that, but our magic 8 ball predicts “maybe more” is all fans can expect from the series for now.

In short, this show’s creator may never let Donna go because he is in love with his creation too much to ever allow Harvey to have her.

Suits returns for season 8 in July 2018.

Like an unfortunate case of toxic masculinity Suits returns this week, post Mike and Rachel’s emotional departure, to emphatically let us all know “I’m not crying! You’re crying!”

In fact there are so many adversarial moments of testosterone-fuelled one-upmanship in the premiere episode you’d be forgiven for thinking last season’s dreamy, heartfelt and romantic finale was just that. A dream. Dry those tears! It’s back to business — and then some.

Guys, can’t we all just make nice for once? Apparently not. The season 8 premiere finds Harvey and Robert going at it — playfully at first — as they spar over who will lead the firm going forward.

Lines are good-naturedly drawn, stances formed, and bluffs called, as each throws his hat in the ring. The one thing both men can readily agree on however is that the name Litt will not be a contender any time soon.

However, as their competitive natures begin to run away with them, both Robert and Harvey find themselves thrown into a pitched battle the firm could really do without right now.

We’ve seen the episode a little early, thanks to our friends at USA Network, and have a couple of teasers to share with you below. As always, we avoid any outright spoilers that would ruin the various surprises, twists and turns the premiere contains. If you’d like to learn more about our Spoiler Policy, you can do so by following the link in this sentence.

Old Faces

Louis’ right hand woman, Katrina Bennett, is officially back, as Amanda Schull officially returns to the series this season as a regular, and we couldn’t be happier.

As the premiere kicks off, Katrina elects to take on a task that carries more emotional weight than she initially realizes. (Think Ned Stark in the Game of Thrones series premiere.) An opportunity to grow or the straw that will break the camel’s back?

This is a big opening episode for Louis’ Girl Friday.

If last week’s Suits premiere was a masterclass in how to clean the slate by throwing all the game pieces up in the air, then this week is surely a study in how and where those pieces will fall.

“Pecking Order,” an aptly titled episode, will see fallout from Harvey’s unilateral decision to make Robert Zane ZSL’s new Managing Partner when a new contender decides to enter the ring.

Meanwhile, Donna and Samantha get off on the wrong foot, prompting Donna to dig into Sam’s mysterious past to learn where her sympathies truly lie. What she finds will surprise everyone, and may even prompt Harvey to rethink his attitude to Robert’s right hand woman.

Meanwhile, when Robert grows concerned about how Harvey is dealing with a former client of Mike’s, he sets Samantha on the case, prompting a clash of attitudes, styles, and ethics.

Meanwhile, when Louis receives unusual advice from his therapist, Sheila decides to take matters into her own hands, and Harvey realizes it may be harder to hold on to his promise to Alex than he initially thought.

It’s all happening Wednesday, July 25(10-11 p.m. ET) on USA Network. Official photography from “Pecking Order” follow below.

SUITS to End After Season 9, as USA Preps PEARSON Spin-Off

USA’s legal drama Suits will return for a ninth but final season, it emerged Wednesday.

A last 10 episode season will end the adventures of Harvey, Louis, Donna et al, before spin-off series Pearson, starring Gina Torres, makes its debut later this year.

The new series will focus on Suits matriarch Jessica Pearson, who relocated from New York to Chicago to enter the dirty world of politics, via a backdoor pilot last year.

Although the show adjusted to major cast changes last season, including the departures of core characters Mike and Rachel (Patrick J. Adams and Meghan Markle), along with the addition of Katherine Heigl as Samantha Wheeler, and the upping to series regular of Amanda Schull’s Katrina Bennett, it never quite recovered its momentum, with September’s mid-season finale “Managing Partner” dropping from 1.27 to 1.09 million viewers (down from 0.28 to 0.26 in the demo) against the season 8 premiere.

Series creator Aaron Korsh released the following statement on the cancellation:

Though I know it isn’t true, it seems like only yesterday USA Network took a chance on an unestablished writer’s very first hour long script. These days that’s a common thing, but 47 years ago when I first wrote the Untitled Korsh Project, nobody did it. Nobody except the people at USA and [Universal Cable Productions].

First and foremost I would like to thank Alex Sepiol and Dennis Kim, without whom Suits would never have gotten made. I also cannot thank Bill McGoldrick, Jeff Wachtel, Bonnie Hammer, Chris McCumber, Ted Chervin, Dave Bartis, Gene Klein, Doug Liman, Dawn Olmstead and everyone at the network and studio enough for their dedication and support throughout the years. And to the exceptional writers, cast and crew — thank you for your passion and devotion, without which, Suits would be nothing. And last but never least, to the fans who have stuck with the Suits family through thick and thin, through can-openers and flashbacks — thank you for always speaking your mind. Without you, I might start to think I’m getting the hang of this writing thing. And once that happens, nobody wins. I look forward to enraging and hopefully sometimes delighting you with the final episodes.

Finally, to my wife Kate and my children Cooper and Lucy. Thank you for enduring countless late nights and times away, for me to get to live my dream. I love you.

Love, Aaron.

The long running series stars Gabriel Macht as Harvey Specter, Rick Hoffman as Louis Litt, Sarah Rafferty as Donna Paulsen, Amanda Schull as Katrina Bennett, Dulé Hill as Alex Williams, and Katherine Heigl as Samantha Wheeler.

Suits continues with season 8, Wednesdays (10-11 p.m ET) on USA Network.

USA network has unveiled plans to air the ninth and final season of Suits back to back with spin-off series Pearson this summer.

The shows will premiere their 10 episode final and first seasons respectively on Wednesday, July 17 9/8c and 10/9c.

The final season of Suits picks up with Manhattan corporate law firm, Zane Specter Litt Wheeler Williams, facing uncertainty and change yet again after Robert Zane (Wendell Pierce) took the fall with the Bar Association to save Harvey (Gabriel Macht).

After his sacrifice, Samantha Wheeler (Katherine Heigl) is left reeling from the loss of her mentor, and while trying to console her, Harvey realizes that he doesn’t want to lose the most important person to him: Donna (Sarah Rafferty).

Season 9 will follow the legendary lawyer and COO balance their relationship with work, as they fight to salvage the firm’s tarnished reputation alongside their partners, Louis Litt (Rick Hoffman), Alex Williams (Dulé Hill), Katrina Bennett (Amanda Schull), and Samantha.

As the season progresses, our core characters’ personal lives will be explored more deeply than ever before, setting up the series conclusion, in which everyone will finally be forced to decide exactly who they are and what kind of lawyers they want to be.

Pearson meanwhile centers around the world of recently disbarred NYC powerhouse lawyer Jessica Pearson (Gina Torres) as she adjusts to down and dirty Chicago politics. Newly appointed as Chicago Mayor Bobby Novak’s (Morgan Spector) right hand fixer, Jessica is quickly embroiled in a crooked and dangerous new world where every action has far-reaching consequences.

With her compulsion to win, Jessica is forced to reconcile her unstoppable drive with her desire to do the right thing – two things very much at odds.
