Check it out Suits fans.

We’ve got a new sneak peek to share with you from the show’s March 27 instalment.

Entitled “Heartburn” the episode will see Harvey and Mike undertaking some “unpleasant work” for one of their biggest clients.

However, if you’ve been keeping up with Suits news here on ScreenSpy then you’ll know the episode also sees the office reacting to the news that someone close to them has just suffered a heart attack.

We’ve watched the promo trailer a dozen times by now, and all we can say is USA Network is excellent at showing us just enough to keep us guessing. We’ve included it below in case you want to over-analyse it for yourself.

So, our best guess? Louis Litt will accidentally get Litt up.

Check out the latest sneak peek from “Heartburn” below, in which Louis (Rick Hoffman) is having quite a bad day.

Heart attack bad?

Find out Thursday, March 27 on USA Network (10-11 p.m. ET).

Business as usual at Pearson Specter? Not in Suits‘ April 10 episode.

“No Way Out” will see the firm rattled when Harvey and Mike find themselves at odds with a tenacious U.S. Attorney.

To make things worse, for Harvey at least, he and Scottie hit a bump in the road where their relationship is concerned. (USA Network describe it as “can’t seem to get on the same page” in their log lines for this episode.

And not to be outdone on the relationship front, Mike and Rachel clash over plans for their future.

We’ve got some first look images from the episode to share with you below. How angst-ridden does Mike look in these pics?

Catch “No Way Out” Thursday, April 10 on USA Network (9-10 p.m. ET)

TV REVIEW: Louis & Mike Feel the Pain of Family Bonds in “Heartburn”

$

0

Full Disclosure: Aaron Korsh’s Suits is one of my TV passions right now.

I can’t recall another show in recent memory with quite the same ability to blend trademark mile-a-minute legalese with sudden poignancy or unexpected hilarity, as the situation requires.

The characters too are drawn so sharply that when set against that stark black and white, win or lose, eat or be eaten backdrop of New York’s legal elite, their individual moments of frailty and indecision seem magnified by comparison.

Such was the case in last night’s offering “Heartburn.” As is often the scenario, three distinct stories (this week’s centring on Louis, Mike and Rachel) seem at first glance to have no connection, but over time begin to share a common theme.

If last week’s episode was all about friendship versus status (who can forget Harvey’s (Gabriel Macht) conversations with both Scottie and Louis about asking as a friend, or calling in a chip?) then this week was surely about family, and what the bonds of family mean in actual terms. As both Louis and Mike came to realise, being part of a family has its distinct drawbacks too.

Pictured: (l-r) Gabriel Macht as Harvey Specter, Sarah Rafferty as Donna Paulsen -- (Photo by: Ian Watson/USA Network)

Speculation was rife during the week about just who Donna (Sarah Rafferty) was comforting in that hospital bed in the promo trailers. Our money was always on Louis (Rick Hoffman) – the man who prefers pretending to jog over taking actual exercise and whose blood pressure goes through the roof whenever he has to address the associates. However Louis’ sudden heart attack was no less shocking when it happened.

The news struck a blow to the gang at Pearson Specter, who immediately rallied to support him, and significantly to hide the news from the clients. Despite Louis’ insistence that no one should come to visit him, Donna instantly understood that “he’s embarrassed but he wants me to be there.” In his moment of crisis, Louis found he had the support and sympathy of his co-workers. Even Harvey was cajoled into giving him a hug upon his return to the office.

In fact, Louis’ heart attack did much to bolster his ever-shifting convictions about how much he is valued, not only as a lawyer, but as a friend to Donna, Mike, Rachel, Jessica and especially Harvey.

In fact, this solid reassurance served to place Louis in the emotional wringer when, prompted by his near-death experience, he asked Sheila (Rachael Harris) to marry him and move to New York. Sheila in turn, prompted him to ditch Pearson-Specter and move to Boston. Would Louis be able to leave the gang behind, now that he knew in his heart that they did truly care about him, and that he finally had the acceptance and understanding he so badly craved? We didn’t get to find out, as another issue, this one involving Sheila’s reluctance to have children, sprang up between the two lovers, causing a rift in their relationship.

We’re not sure what’s ahead for Louis and Sheila, but we got to see just how important Louis’ family connections at Pearson-Specter are to him.

Pictured: Patrick J. Adams as Michael Ross -- (Photo by: Ian Watson/USA Network)

Pictured: Patrick J. Adams as Michael Ross — (Photo by: Ian Watson/USA Network)

Mike (Patrick J. Adams) too was feeling the pain that resulted from his special connection to the firm this week. Last week he came to realise that his lack of a law degree meant keeping a perpetually low profile at the firm. This week, he got a real taste of what it might be like to be a junior associate, forever trapped by his secret.

Remember Jonathan Sidwell (Brandon Firla), Tony Gianopolis’ right hand man and the client Louis tried, failed then eventually won over? Well “Heartburn” revealed that all was not well for Sidwell, who actually wanted to leave his boss and and go create his own company. When Sidwell confided in Mike that a water-tight non-compete meant that he would be forever stuck in Gianopolis’ employ, Mike couldn’t help but draw parallels to his own situation at Pearson-Specter.

We were also treated to a wonderful and significant scene in which Harvey and Mike thrashed out all the possibilities concerning Mike’s predicament and his future. What if Mike secretly took the bar? What if he took it under a different name? What if he moved away and started his life over as a lawyer in another city? I have to admit, these are questions I have asked myself about Mike’s degree since the show’s first season, and it was a nice touch to see them addressed in a meaningful way in this scene. It proved that his problem is more than just a hook upon which to hang the show’s premise, and that ultimately there will be more repercussions in episodes to come.

Attempting to help Sidwell wriggle out of his non-compete only angered Harvey and forced Mike into an uncomfortable situation where he had to prevent Sidwell’s departure. However a candid moment between both men later led to Mike finding a way for Sidwell to be free of his boss. Significantly, it also led to Sidwell offering Mike a position in new firm, not as a lawyer but as a member of his investment banking firm.

“You’re in the minor leagues here. I’m giving you a chance to play in the majors,” Sidwell notes.

But it’s not just the opportunity to shatter that glass ceiling, but to be finally fraud-free, that hooks Mike, and judging from the promo trailer for next week’s episode, this offer is not about to be swept under the rug just yet.

Pictured: Meaghan Markle as Rachel Zane (Photo by: Ian Watson/USA Network)

Pictured: Meghan Markle as Rachel Zane (Photo by: Ian Watson/USA Network)

Rachel (Meghan Markle) too was feeling out of sorts when a bill for her tuition fees meant gently reminding Louis about his prior agreement to fork up the money for her education. But with Louis in hospital, Rachel was left with no option but to face the tiger ask Jessica (Gina Torres), who promptly disavowed any knowledge of Rachel’s contract with Louis. (You know what they say about verbal agreements not being worth the paper they’re written on, right?)

In the end, Rachel found a way for Pearson-Specter to honor the original agreement, but not without some resentment on Rachel’s part towards Louis, whom she felt sure deliberately treated her like a chump and never intended to hand over the tuition fees.

For what it’s worth, I think Louis is a man of his word and that Rachel should go talk to him and sort it out. Just like any family, slights have the potential to become festering wounds if left to linger … Harvey’s reluctance to call Scottie being a case in point. Honestly, what would this firm do without Donna?

With a finale just around the corner, thoughts are already turning to USA Suits‘ fourth season.

Production on the next instalment of the critically acclaimed show kicks off today, April 7 in Toronto, with new episodes returning this summer.

The latest casting news reveals that DB Woodside (of Parenthood fame) and Brendan Hines (ABC’s Betrayal) will join the cast next season for multi-episodic arcs.

According to the network Woodside will play Jeff Malone, a former SEC prosecutor who is a financial expert with a personal stake in Pearson Specter.  His expertise is needed when the firm is faced with its toughest challenge yet.

Hines meanwhile will play Logan Sandler, the son of a millionaire entrepreneur who was born with a silver spoon in his mouth and isn’t used to hearing the word “no.”   His desire to prove himself by making a splashy acquisition will put him squarely in the middle of a conflict between Harvey (Macht) and Mike (Adams).

Suits stars Gabriel Macht, Patrick J. Adams, Gina Torres, Rick Hoffman, Meghan Markle and Sarah Rafferty.

Suits will air its season three finale episode on Thursday April 10 at 9/8c.

If we can say one thing about Jessica Pearson (Gina Torres) it’s this. Even when things are about to hit the fan she can maintain an enviable air of composure.

In this sneak peek clip from Thursday’s finale episode “No Way Out” a suspicious Louis (Rick Hoffman) wants to know why Harvey has missed an important meeting.

It seems that ever since his heart attack Louis is worried about the welfare of others around him, Harvey included.

Watch as Jessica gives Louis the brush off without him realising he’s been brushed off below.

But where is Harvey, really? We suspect he’s with Mike, and things are not looking good for Mike this week. And by ‘not looking good’ we mean under arrest. This finale is sure to keep fans buzzing until the show’s season four return.

Following on from last night’s shocking Suits finale, which saw Mike (Patrick J. Adams) leaving the firm, comes fresh scoop on just who he’ll be working with next season.  We’ve just heard from USA who informs us that Melanie Papalia has been tapped for a multi-episode arc next season.

The Newsroom actress will play Amy, Mike’s new executive secretary.

Described as bright and quick-witted, she develops a nearly instant rapport with Mike, aiding him in capacities both personal and professional, ensuring that even in tough times he keeps his eye on the ball.

Papalia joins recently announced recurring guest stars DB Woodside, Brendan Hines and Michael Gross.

Does this mean Mike finally has a Donna of his own?

ROYAL PAINS (June 10, 9-10 p.m.)

COVERT AFFAIRS (June 24, 10-11 p.m.)

Wednesday

SUITS (June 11, 9-10 p.m.)

GRACELAND (June 11, 10-11 p.m.)

Thursday

RUSH (July 17, 9-10 p.m.)

SATISFACTION (July 17, 10-11 p.m.)

RUSH:  RUSH examines the world of renegade physician Dr. William P. Rush (Tom Ellis, “Miranda”), a “medical fixer” who privately caters to LA’s elite and whose service comes with a hefty price tag.  Though the hard-partying doctor claims that he doesn’t make judgments about his less-than-squeaky-clean clients, he’s not immune to the ugliness that he encounters. From Fox21 (“Homeland”) and writer/director Jonathan Levine (“Warm Bodies”), along with Gina Matthews and Grant Scharbo (“Missing,” “13 Going on 30”) and Executive Producer Adam Fierro (“The Shield”), the series is set to film in Vancouver, Canada.

SATISFACTION:  A provocative drama that explores modern marriage at its midpoint.  Through the lens of one couple, Neil Truman (Matt Passmore, “The Glades”) and his wife, Grace  (Stephanie Szostak, “The Devil Wears Prada”), this series answers the question, “What do you do when having it all is not enough?”  by delving into their shocking and unconventional choices.  Michelle DeShon (“Hollywood Heights”), Katherine LaNasa (“The Campaign”) and Blair Redford (“Switched at Birth”) also star.  SATISFACTION is from Universal Cable Productions (UCP) and executive producer/creator Sean Jablonski (SUITS, “Nip Tuck”).  Russ Krasnoff (“Community”) of Krasnoff/Foster also serves as executive producer.  The series is set to film in Atlanta, Georgia.

ROYAL PAINS:  Season six promises to bring more fun and sun and a host of celebrity guest stars to the Hamptons.  This season, Hank (Mark Feuerstein, “Good Morning, Miami”), will return from his world travels with Boris (Campbell Scott, “The Amazing Spider-Man 2”) to find that his HankMed family has moved on without him during his 9-month absence.  No longer in the comfortable dynamics he left behind, Hank forges ahead to figure out how he fits into this new normal.  The series also stars Paulo Costanzo (“40 Days and 40 Nights”), Reshma Shetty (“30 Rock”), Brooke D’Orsay (“Two and a Half Men”), and Ben Shenkman (BURN NOTICE).  From Universal Cable Productions, ROYAL PAINS is written and executive produced by Andrew Lenchewski (“UC: Undercover”) and Michael Rauch (“Life is Wild”).  Rich Frank (“More”) also serves as executive producer along with Jeff Kwatinetz (“Unstoppable”) and Paul Frank (“Comanche Moon”) from Prospect Park, Connie Burge (“Ally McBeal”), Carol Flint (“The West Wing”), Jon Sherman (“Frasier”) and Jack Bernstein (MONK).  ROYAL PAINS was one of summer’s top five cable series Wednesday nights in 2013 among P25-54 (2.01MM) and total viewers P2+.

SUITS:  The critically acclaimed and award-nominated legal drama returns for its fourth season after a major shift in the dynamics at the firm.  It’s a new world order as Mike Ross (SAG Award nominee Patrick J Adams, “Rosemary’s Baby”) leaves Pearson Specter and heads to Wall Street as an investment banker, quickly finding himself at odds with his mentor Harvey (Gabriel Macht, “Love and Other Drugs”).  The series also stars Gina Torres (“Firefly”), Rick Hoffman (“Samantha Who”), Meghan Markle (“CSI: Miami”) and Sarah Rafferty (“Brothers & Sisters”).  From Universal Cable Productions, SUITS was created and is executive produced by Aaron Korsh (“The Deep End”).  Doug Liman (COVERT AFFAIRS, “The Bourne Trilogy”) and David Bartis (COVERT AFFAIRS) and Gene Klein (COVERT AFFAIRS) of Hypnotic, as well as Daniel Arkin (“90210”) and Chris Downey (“Leverage”) serve as executive producers.  SUITS was one of 2013’s top ten scripted shows in cable among P18-49 (2.38MM), P25-54 (2.39MM), and P18-34 (1.28MM).  Fans can catch up before the new season with the DVD release of SUITS season three on May 27 or anytime on Amazon Prime.

GRACELAND:  The sophomore season of GRACELAND follows the high-stakes investigative lives of six undercover federal agents who live together in a government-seized Southern California beachfront house.  These FBI, DEA and ICE agents, whose lies are their lives, struggle to maintain a sense of normalcy.  This is especially challenging when the former FBI rookie, Mike Warren (Aaron Tveit, “Les Miserables”) returns to “Graceland” to run point on a dangerous mission against the cartel.  Meanwhile, Briggs (Daniel Sunjata, “Rescue Me”), still concerned about the missing recording that implicates him in a murder, attempts to clean up his life and repair his relationships.  The series also stars Vanessa Ferlito (“The Sopranos”), Manny Montana (“Chicago Code”), Brandon Jay McLaren (“Falling Skies”) and Serinda Swan (“Breakout Kings”).  From Fox Television Studios, GRACELAND comes from creator and executive producer Jeff Eastin (WHITE COLLAR) and is inspired by true events.  The series was one of 2013’s top new cable dramas of the summer, capturing a broad freshman audience, averaging 4M total viewers.

COVERT AFFAIRS:  Season five of the hit espionage series picks up with CIA operative Annie (Golden Globe®-nominated Piper Perabo, “Looper”) returning to the Agency after having faked her death to go deep undercover to find a traitor to the CIA.  The new season will examine the price Annie will have to pay for this risky maneuver and the implications it will have on her relationships – both personally and professionally – as she attempts to re-emerge into the world she once knew.  The series also stars Christopher Gorham (“Ugly Betty”), Hill Harper (“CSI: NY”), Kari Matchett (“Invasion”), Peter Gallagher (“The O.C.”) and Nic Bishop (“Body of Proof”).  From Universal Cable Productions, COVERT AFFAIRS was created, written and executive produced by Matt Corman (“Deck the Halls”) and Chris Ord (“Deck the Halls”), and is executive produced by Doug Liman (SUITS, “The Bourne Trilogy”) David Bartis (SUITS) and Gene Klein (SUITS) through Hypnotic.  Stephen Kay (“Sons of Anarchy”), Sean Ryerson (“Bait”), Stephen Hootstein (“What About Brian”) and Henry Alonso Myers (“Ugly Betty”) also serve as executive producers.  In 2013, COVERT AFFAIRS averaged 1.44MM P18-49, 1.68MM P25-54, and 4.05MM total viewers P2+.  Fans can catch up before the new season with the DVD release of COVERT AFFAIRS season four on May 27 or anytime on Amazon Prime.

10 Things to Know About Suits Season 4 Premiere “One-Two-Three Go”

$
0
0

The season four premiere of Suits is just around the corner.

The show makes a return to USA Network from Wednesday June 11, kicking off with “One-Two-Three Go” which, in case you’re wondering, is something which is uttered by one of our favorite characters in the episode’s closing moments.

This premiere introduces a collection of new talent in recurring guest stars Michael Gross (Family Ties), DB Woodside (Parenthood), Melanie Papalia (The Newsroom) and Brendan Hines (Lie to Me) in addition to setting up some intriguing plot lines for the season ahead.

We’re fresh off a viewing of the premiere, thanks to our friends at USA, and we’re dying to share some scoop. As usual, we’re not going to outright spoil you (sorry spoiler hunters!) but instead toss some clues, make some general references and try to give you an idea of what to expect. Brace yourselves. Did you know that …

1. … Breaking Up is Hard to Do

The premiere episode sees Mike and Harvey at odds in a way we have never seen before … and this is just the beginning of a new and more adult relationship between our former BFFs. Expect the events of “One-Two-Three Go” to have repercussions that will echo throughout episodes to come. And we don’t say that lightly. We’re both appalled and excited to see where this goes but we’re definitely along for the ride.

2. Risk the One to Have the Other

Jessica has a problem that Harvey is all too familiar with. But when she comes to him for advice, there’s more than a little Perason/Specter sexual tension in the air between our named partners. Guess who’s picturing who naked? No matter who you ship, you’ll love this scene.

3. Size Matters

In ties that is. Now that he’s working for the flashy Sidwell Investment Group, the size of Mike’s tie knot has … swelled to new and impressive proportions.  Trust Donna to put him firmly in his place though – “Mr Peanut called and he said he’d be happy to lend you his top hat.”

But Mike is not the only one suffering taunts over his size. Mike’s new PA Amy (we like her already) breezily announces Harvey as “Johnny Fat Tie.”

4. All In a Day’s Work

Having those all important documents and details to hand, throwing compliments and even fetching lunch and coffee. Yes Mike is bending over backwards to anticipate his new PA’s every need. Did we mention how much we already like Amy?

5. Prunie?

Louis just invented it. Want a sip? We thought not.

6. Donna is Always Right

You know the way Donna is ALWAYS right? Well, now Harvey does too. Darvey fans can expect a couple of nice moments between Donna and Harvey including an apology. Actually, Donna’s not the only person Harvey finds himself having to apologize to this episode. If only he had listened to Donna in the first place.

7. Everyone’s Doing it

The opening scene sees not one but four of our cast the morning after the night before. You can probably guess who at least two of our up all night to get lucky quartet are, but who do you think sneaks away in the early a.m. leaving only a note on a pillow?

8. Waiting For the Pretty Girl to Call

Expect to see some great scenes between Louis and his girl Friday, Katrina after Louis takes advice from Harvey and waits for the pretty girl to call him first. And no, we’re not talking a romantic interest here but a matter closer to Louis’ heart right now. But as Louis waits for that all important call, it appears important decisions are being made all around him. Time to pick up that phone, Louis.

9. Bye Bye Scottie

Were you very attached to Harvey’s love interest last season? Because it appears Scottie is definitely a thing of the past … if that other woman in Harvey’s bed is an accurate barometer.

10. Go Faster Stripes

When you love a show, there’s a tendency to want to write up every episode, even when it’s a little sub-par (*cough* Hessington Oil *cough*). That said, the season 4 premiere is, in our very honest opinion, the best opener the show has seen to date.

Exactly what can fans expect from “One-Two-Three Go”? Higher stakes for one, along with a maturing of the relationship between Harvey and Mike, and a harder sexier edge to proceedings. Throw in a heap of classic banter and one shot zingers (We’re looking at you Donna) from our favorite characters along with that trademark so-sharp-you-could-cut-yourself Suits dialogue, and the season ahead has win written all over it.

Suits season 4 premieres Wednesday, June 11 at 9 p.m. ET/PT on USA.

Suits makes a return to USA Network from Wednesday June 11, kicking off with “One-Two-Three Go” and an episode which puts Harvey and Mike at odds with each other when their interests collide over a client.

With tensions escalating on both sides, and feelings becoming bruised, it appears our former BFFS may soon become serious adversaries.

While Rachel finds herself caught in the middle, Jessica faces a difficult decision where her heart and her company is concerned.

That may the question on Jessica’s (Gina Torres) mind in this new sneak peek from Suits’ season 4 premiere, but it’s not likely either Donna (Sarah Rafferty) or Rachel (Meghan Markle) are about to surrender anything more than a “morning meeting” excuse.

But we all know what “morning meeting” really refers to, right? (Don’t worry, you’ll find out in the season premiere soon enough.)

Roberts, who joins the recently announced Neal McDonagh, DB Woodside, Brendan Hines, Michael Gross and Melanie Papalia, will take on the role of play Charles Forstman, a titan of finance with a net worth in the billions and an outsized personality to match.

Forstman is described as a man whose checkbook could swing any takeover battle, but if someone wants him on their side they’ll have to figure out what to give the man who has everything.  With his own ideas about how the game should be played, Forstman could knock over the whole chessboard.

It looks like Louis (Rick Hoffman) is about to become the filling in a Jessica/Jeff (Jeffica?) sandwich in tonight’s Suits episode.

“Two in the Knees” will see Louis attempting to mend his relationship with Jeff (DB Woodside).

However things go south when their ensuing bonding leads to some misunderstandings!

We suspect that deep tissue massage might have something to do with it.

Meanwhile Harvey will have his hands full when Logan Sanders pushes him to prove his former relationship with Mike won’t hinder him from doing what it takes to win their takeover battle.

Can Harvey do what it takes to take out Mike Ross “with one punch” or will his sense of loyalty stop him from ruining a friendship forever?

Catch Suits tonight June 25 on USA Network  (9-10 p.m. ET) but first, check out that Jeffica sandwich!
